Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is a multipurpose crop cultivated for spice, herb, as a legume and is used in food preparations in several parts of the world. It is a semiarid and a short duration crop. It is also known for medicinal and nutraceutical importance. It is one of the oldest plant used in tranditional herbal medicine practices of India, China, Egypt and middle-east countries. It is rich in nutritional constituents, fiber, protein, fat, aromatic compounds, vitamins and minerals. This plant is very promising in its use in cases of diabetes and cancer therapy. It is commercially cultivated in Indian sub-continent, Argentina, Spain, France, middle east countries, North African and North American region.
